Hi guys, I have this nightmare and I can't resolve it. Tried Mercedes dealership, they aren't much help. Here is what happenes. I have a Becker cassette player and CD changer + on board phone on my 1994 E320, which I just purchased. The problem is that radio displays PHONE and does not even let me enter the code to unlock it. No matter what you press - PHONE code stays on.
Now, the telephone in the car is not working. It does not even power up. I tried to disconnect it so I can enter the code into the radio - no luck.
All I want to do is make radio working. Previous owner told me that these problems started after new battery was installed. I went to the dealership and they said that they can try to reprogramm the stereo so it will bypass the phone, and it might help, or might not. The botton line you have to pay money but there are no guarantees that stereo will work...
Any help is HIGHLY APPRECIATED. Many thanks in advance.

Try disconnecting the battery.key out of the ignition unhook the neg terminal of the battery and step on the brakes for 30 seconds to remove any charge in the system, then reconnect the neg lead. Now try the radio code.

Ohlord, thanks a lot! I actually took it to the dealer because it did not work. So, the dealer hooked up a coputer and told me that phone causes radio problems as well as sunroof problems. My sunroof would open by itself, imagine that? And it was very hard to close it. Sucks when it snows. Anyways, they reprogrammed the radio and it works just fine. Sunroof is fine too now. I paid $89.00 for this service.
