My recently bought 2004 E500 B4 is becoming a real nightmare. After I bought it I had to spend about 3.5k in spares, including tires. It still has a crazy radio (defective ADW, by the way nobody in this forum helped me in this matter), then last night passenger front door lock start malfuntioning: when you open or close the car the door lock goes crazy for about a couple of seconds, up, down, up down .... The dealer told me I have to replace all the door lock system because there is a short circuit in the door lock switch and as that piece is sealed they need to order a new one. Big $$$ again. What should I do? Get rid of this beautyfull money pit or keep it and pray for a much needed good luck?

 

AGW's have been a concern but not knowing the complaint don't know.
Pass. door lock actuator sound's most like your problem for the door lock.
Maybe you want to look into a warranty. Sound's like one may have helped you from the beginning. Sometimes people don't see the benefit when the payment goes up every month but always worth it. Maybe that will help you enjoy your E class better. good luck in you decision.

 

when say your door lock going up and down do you mean bouncing when oprete the key,ok if its bouncing then you ll only need to replace the defective 1 not expensive it involve 2hrs labour....

 

I paid the car cash, that´s the usual way here in Mexico, so I don´t have the pain of a monthly payment. Well, maybe I have it because all the electrical failures every month, jaja. The dealer will charge me 250.00 dollars for a new door lock and about a hundred for labor. I don´t think that´s cheap. Yes, the door lock bouce about three times every time I lock or unlock the car. Sometimes doesn´t completely lock or unlock when it is supposed to do.
