Default Oil Change Indicator

I want to do my own oil change on a 2003 E320 but my mechanic told me I need a tool to reset oil change indicator. Is it correct? If so, what type of tool do I need or it can be reset by using the ‘R’ button. Thanks

it is my recollection that field resettable FSS is not available for the e-class after 2002.
up to 99, this was done by owner by patting head and rubbing tummy (using the R
button).

00-02 e-class were resettable via the steering wheel controls

03< i think requires SDS.

I am interested in this too, for my 2001 E320.
Can it be reset from the controls, without any special doodads?
Please help us out if you know!
