<IMG src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0">I have a 1999 c270 v6 with a po170 and po173 fault code. What is a fuel trim malfunction? please help !!!!

A po170 can be caused by several things, one is an intake air leak, fuel injectors, and a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Basically something is causing the computer to be out of its fuel trim limits such as one of the items I listed above. Have you unplugged anything lately on the intake of the engine or perhaps knocked a vacuum line off by doing something else? You may want to look closely for a vacuum leak or a vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator.

I also have P0173 for 2000 E320. Only changed oil and filter. It has 69,400miles. Recently I discovered a very
dirty ait filter after check engine light has been on for
a while. Do you think changing air filter would correct the
sensors from flagging P0173? I am confused at all the
lights and codes.

That's very possible, that must be an aweful dirty air filter<IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"></P>
