Default Not in Blue Book. Sell it for...?

hello! Newbie here! Would love some assistance. Not sure if I should sell my MB or hold onto it for another four years for it to be an "antique". MB 1987 260E, 2nd Owner, first owner was, believe it or not, little old lady... in this case.. my aunt. Has 74,000 miles on it. Runs fine, body is in very good condition, only problem... Radio does work but the radio and/or speakers may need to be replaced. Not sure if I want too keep taking care of it because it does cost alot more to upkeep (parts are expensive). Blue book online only goes as far as 1988. Any guidance or an idea on what I should sell it for would be most appreciated. Thank you.

small 6or big 4? Cause I would guess around$1900 for a six cylinder 4 door model, in excellent condition. Considerably less for a 4 cylinder 4 door model....Just guesses of course...
Let us know, that would be good info.....Cliff

6 cylinder. Two suggestions so far: $1900 and $5000. It's in great condition and the mileage is under 100,000. I was offered $1500 recently but I think that is just too low. I would give it away to a family member but, as I mentioned before, any future repair cost would be tooexpensive for them. Any other quotes? Should I post it for sale on this forum? Thank you.

5grand?
you never use blue book to price a car,it is what dealer use to justify ripping you off.
In nice shape no rust about $1500.It will never be a collector car and the price will only kssp going down.
Parts for it are abundant at places like http://www.autohausaz.com/search/cat...00016@Mercedes
and not expensive at all.Polish it up and list it for $2000 on the member classifieds on mbworld.org and benzworld.org
owners of that model or want to be owners are interested at times and might pay the premium.

good luck ,whatever direction you decide to take.

I would agree that the car is probably in the $2,000 range if it is in really really good shape. I recently traded a pretty rusty 1997 E420. It needed brakes, tires, tie rods, and the usual 100,000 mile service stuffand I wasn't going to spend that kind of money on a rust bucket.

I was offered anywhere from $2,000 - $3,500 on trade. Carmax quoted the $2,000 and would buy it outright. I didn't want the bother of selling it myself so I traded it when I got the E430.

If it needs brakes/tiresand any significant work I wouldprobably sell. Otherwise, if the car is as nice as you say, I would drive it into the ground (likeI did with E420)before I would sell it for $2,000. Unless of course you really need the cash or have no use at all for the car.

Keep the fluids up to snuff and only fix safety items thatbreak or wear out. If you end up facing a major repair down the road, walk away. At most you are only out the difference between $2,000 and scrap/part out value.

My $.02
