Default Neutural Safety Switch(NSS) on 98 E320

I was was told the 98 E320 does not have NSS. Is it true? If so what controls(turns on) the back-up light when you shift to reverse. Any body knows?

Hi,
this post slipped by me
the reverse lights are controlled by a switch on the underside of the shift module.
it is part S16/10 s2
diy to pull the module on benzworld.org w210 section and the switch might be a dealer only part. However you can ask for a quote from www.autohausaz.com
Have you checked the fuse?
