Default My 87’ 300E haunted help

I have been getting my car ready for inspection for the first time since I bought it. Just when I am almost ready My headlights start flashing everytime I open a door. I hear a clicking sound around the glove box like a relay is clicking off and on or like a flasher. Any Help out there.
thanks

headlights flashing upon door opening sounds like trouble with the factory alarm system.

I never really figured out what caused the problem but I disconnected the alarm under the passenger seat footwell carpet and then plugged it back in and never had the problem again. However it put the factory radio out of commision. I was told by the dealer that I had to bring it in to be reprogrammed and it would cost about $60 so I put in an aftermarket radio.

Im having the same problem with my 1986 190e....!!! It doesn't seem to be connected to a radio though, just flashing lights and clicking in the glove box. I think it may have a factory installed alarm from way back when.....

HI,

The radiowasn't part of the problem with my flashing headlights either. I disconnected the plug under the passenger footwell carpet which stopped the problem. But the radio has an anti theft feature where it has to be reprogrammed once the alarm is disconnected. So I was unable to get the radio to work again unless I brought it to a dealer to reprogram it for $60. If you have an aftermarket radio It shouldn't make any difference.
