Multifunction display warning
Please someone help me, before i get crucified by the dealer. I have an E-320, 2000 MB. while Iam driving, I get this warning on the multifunction display: " LAMP DEFECTIVE- CHECK LAMPS! " I check all my lights, inside and outside. Every one of them working perfectly. I don't know why I am having this warning.
Any input would be apppreciated. Thanks

RE: Multifunction display warning
Hi,
Possible but unlikly that bulb sensing device is defective.
You say you have chacked all your lights. Are you absolutely sure?
Specifically it refers to your exterior lights.
For instance have you checked the bumper markers?
Headlamps on main and dipped beam?
Sometimes lamp clusters have more than one bulb per function so it may appear that the bulb is OK but that only one instead of two is working. (I'm not 100% sure of the E class setup)
Are the lights as bright as one another? (A poor connection can also cause the system to display)
Are the bulbs the correct wattage and correctly fitted? Some people fit high intensity headlamp bulbs that are the incorrect wattage.
Is the warning continuous or intermittent? With your exterior lights off I believe the warning light should go off.
Intermittent contact on the rear clusters (brake) is a problem on the SLK and may well also apply to the E.
Double check which lights the warning applies to in your handbook.
