I have a pre facelift W210 E430 1998 model. I was wondering how difficult it would be to retrofit a different steering wheel airbag. I was wanting to retrofit a multifunction steering wheel with control buttons. Does anyone have information on this retrofit such as: diagrams, instructions, pictures, parts needed, and parts numbers or know someone who might have this information? I know the airbag is different with the controls on the steering wheel. I believe the SRS ring is the same from Model years 1998-2002. I was hoping the steering wheels would be the same along with the wiring harness for Canbus. I already have a comand headunit. Thank you in advance for all of your support.

 

It is possible, but this is a safety system, and I do not recommend it.
