I parked car, now it won't go into any gear, including neutral. The shift lever moves into any gear but the car stays in park. Wheels won't move and engine just reves like in park. Also i have to turn the key several times for the car to start, the starter gives a short (like half turn) and stops. I do this a few times then it will start normally. Also since this started the keyless starter on the shift lever won't work at all. Any ideas.

Called Mercedes dealer, they have no idea or recommendations to try, but thats the norm. Bring to workshop is always the answer. They sent a tow company to pick it up, since I can't drive it. Guess what? They couldn't get it on the truck because it's in park and 4 wheel drive.
so they will reschedule and tell his boss. Anyone who they let on the phone to talk doesn't seem to know much about the cars they sell and service, or they don't want owner to know anything about their car.

 

sounds like the shift rod linkage came off the transmission. but could be something else.if you can move the shifter with the car off, probably the shift rod came off.

 

Tks chassis221, you are right on. That is exactly what the problem was. MB took care of it. Have you seen this happen often?? Now I have the car back the three buttons just below the shift, (raise car, stiffen ride, and parktronic) don't work. Something unpluged????

 

yes is possible. that wood pops up fairly easily pops up at the front.

 

Right again....Thanks. It seems that every day this car is complaining of something on the diagnostic screen. Today a picture of a car with an arrow up the middle is shown. What does that mean, is it serious? I had it about a week ago but it went away until now, it keeps coming back every other thing and says visit wlrkshop. I can't fidn anthing in the manual explaining it. The work shop is killing me.
