Light on directional vent control Knob

Default Light on directional vent control ****
Have an E320 2000 gps and the hash mark on the directional vent control is not illuminating. My understanding is that there are two release clips seen through the vents and two screws under the mahogony molding that surrounds the gps. Does anyone know how to get the moulding off?
