Installing a cd changer into a 2000 e320?

Hello. I recently bought a 2000 Mercedes e320 and it apparently didn't come with a cd changer or player for that matter. Anyways, I've read that the fiber optic cable used to install the cd changer should be located in the trunk. Now I've looked all over and I can't seem to find any cables. Is it possible that the car wasn'tre wired for a cd changer, or am I not looking in the right place?
On a side note, I called to Bestbuy in order to find out how much it would cost to replace my dash stereo with a new one Pioneer cd player. Anyways, I was told that it would be incredibly expensive because they would have to hard wire the new cd player and that this would take several hours. Does this sound right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm one of those guys whose has a hard time even driving down the street without some form of music in the bakcground.
Thanks,
Nate

nate,
cable/wires should be on Left side rear of car , might have to remove trunk paneling on that side but its there.
and as far as dash radio, take to a good radio shop and ask if they have installed radio's in a Benz before. should only be EST. about 2to 3 hours . they have to run speaker wires to amps. rest of wire should be right there behind radio.
