Default I want a Mercedes as my first car

So I've been telling people for a long time that a Mercedes would be my first car, and no one has believed me, but I know I'm gonna do it now. I've found a way to earn money and in about 4 months I will have my license and will be able to get one. I'm not really sure which one I want to get and don't know much about mercedes, I just love the way they look. So I was thinking about getting an e320, and have seen 1996 ones for like 4000. I can spend more than that but I'm not sure I need to. I'm just wondering how many miles and which one would be good for someone who wants to spend like 4000-8000. I have been looking on craigslist BTW.

Oh and maybe someone should move this to a more general forum cause I'm not sure which model I want to get, just asking. I want a newer one like 1996-2003 by the way.

Oh and how much do you think insurance would be for a 17-year-old man?

To start. You need to know exaclty how much you have to spend. What is your lifestyle? Where do you live?

If I get this ugly C300, I will be one garage short, and might sell my 2000CLK. I could let you have it for $7000, which is dealer trade in value, given the mileage. Two issues come to mind. One, while the car has been extremely reliable, it will eventually need something, and MBs are not cheap to repair. Two, I worry that the C300 will not be able to take the place of the CLK; its like trading something pretty for something ugly. I'm still debating what to do.

I wouldnt go with that C300. For the sam price you can get another CLK. Maybe a 500 or 55 AMG

Yes I could. I am currently infatuated with having a brand new car with about 10 miles on it for a change. What are your thoughts.... The CLK would have to used and four years old for that price...

Personaly I would rather go with something I like rather then how new it is. Thats the misktake I made when going with my C280. I wanted something NEW big beautifull fast powerfull the whole 9 yards. But I should of went with something more that I liked better rather then going with something just because its newer. I would of rather taken a couple year old S Class or another E Class over the newer C anyday. As far as your situation just try and find a real real low miledged CLK or whatever car you choose and buying a couple year old car with really low miles is just like having a new car except you paid less. I had the same thing when I was younger. I wanted a BRAND NEW car with like no miles on it. I bought my first NEW Mercedes in 1985. 1985 300SD Turbo. After a year and less then a 1,000 miles I didnt really care about having a new car. I think it just a spur of moment thing you have. Had the same thing.

I'm not sure, it's basically how much I need to spend. I only have about 2000 right now, but I can't get my license for like 5 months and will make like a thousand or more a month tax free. Here are some I have been looking at on craigslist.
1996 e320:http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/900845880.html
2001 C class C240:http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/900775898.html

Like I said I really don't know that much about Mercedes, just love the way they look. So I guess I don't need that powerful of a car, just one that looks real clean, which I think is almost always after 1996. How many miles are ok to still buy one?

Oh no, I definitely don't want a new car, just one that looks nice. What would you consider low miles?
