Only just joined the forum and am a little surprised by the doom and gloom. This has gone wrong, that has gone wrong, how does that work, that cost me a fortune. So I thought I would start a positive thread. I love my E Class because

1) the ride is outstanding
2) fuel consumption for such a large car is brilliant
3) it is simply beautiful
4) the leather seats are more comfortable than my settee
5) I love the fact the lights and windscreen wipers come on automatically
6) my car has increased house prices in my cul de sac
7) birds have started to look at me again
8) my space age cup holder makes me smile
9) the hi fi is wonderful
10) the fascia is the best of any car ever made

I just joined this forum as well. Suprising since I've had at least one MB for over 25 yrs. I've owned: '85 190-16v; 83 300TD; '83 300D; '82 300SD; '94 400E, 92 500E, '99SLK; and have had a E320 Wagon for 6yrs.

They all had different characters, but I like the E-class the best. The 190-16v came close, but was a little small. It sure was fun to drive and quick with the 5sp manual transmission. I've owned several Porsches as well, but the favorite car I ever owned was the '92 500E. That car was stunning in every way. It could outrun a GT Mustang and fly under the radar on the interstate better than any Porsche. most cops never gave it a second look as long as you weren't flying all by yourself. I didn't even have it chipped and I was always impressed with the power.

The 123 diesel cars are bulletproof. Probably the best car MB has ever made in terms of sheer reliability and practicality. These things get ABUSED, and look at how many are still tooling around. AND YOU CAN WORK ON THEM. I hate having to take the E320 to the dealer, but even the simpliest of repairs often require special tools I cannot justify buying for one job.

But the E320 sure beats a minivan for hauling 7 passengers, and I really like the body style on the '95.
