Default how to self check 1999 mercedes benz model E300 Turbo Diesel transmission oil

"Service Due Now" displays in the dash.

Vehicle now in "limp mode".
(It was not my imagination re not shifting as usual...)

Our query as follows: how does one self check the sealed transmission oil level as we prefer to stay away from dealer's if we can avoid.

Please advise!

Many thanks and kind regards,

Coolabar

Thank you for your message. Need specific instructions on location on the vehicle as to where one self checks the sealed tranny oil compartment.
