Default Helppppp 97 e320 fuel filter location

If y'all wanna laugh at me, feel free to do so -). I've spent half the day looking for the fuel filter location in my 97 e320. My wife's jaw surgery took less time. I read in one poll where the fuel filter is located by the fuel tank (removing a flap/cover shows the filter and fuel pump?). Well, I have pretty much removed everything in the trunk but I don't see a flap. I have also removed the rear tire on the passenger side as well as the plastic insert in the wheel well. I did this because it looked like there were some fuel lines going into a plastic housing behind the wheel. Is this the location? If it is, how do you remove this thing? Damn, this thing is like welded to the body. If anybody has a diagram (hiya sleepwalker -)), I would appreciate it being shown. As more laughter to my cause (well, this is a sob), I dropped something onto the trunk and now have 3 dents in it. -((

Thanks anybody for your help.

Never mind Sleep......I found it. Bottom of car, driver side, under rear passenger seat. Easy operation - simply remove the plastic cover, and change the filter.
