Default fuel filter replacement need clamp line/hose?

Hi, I am planning to replace fuel filter for my 88 300ce again this weekend. Last weekend when I tried to disconnect the fuel hose and fuel line gasoline started to drip. So I tightened it backup. My manuel doesn't say anything about gasoline dripping or tightening up the line/hose. I know it is normal to have some drips but I am afraid of having all my gasoline from the tank leaking out. Do I need to worry about that and have the line/hose clamp down first? Or the leak is only the gasoline from the line not from the gas tank? Thanks

WG

Make sure the key is turned off. It's safest to disconnect the battery, but real men don't go that far. A few drops of gas is normal. A spray is not.

A few drops of gasoline is normal. The tank will not empty. If you are worried, plug the line.
