Freon Charge

RE: Freon Charge
Please do your pocket book (or credit card) and the environment a favor.
First find out if there is a leak somewhere, perhaps one of the evaporators. If there is a leak, don't waste your money and don't damage the environment by leaking freon.
You should fix the leak and then charge your AC.

RE: Freon Charge
There are 3 ways to check for leaks in a vehicle. Inject UV dye into a charged system and use a UV light to look for leaking dye.Handheld Electronic Freon leak detector, sniffs for freon, beeps when it finds a leak. A/C Gauges, on an empty system, a vacume is placed on the system, and if the readings hold after an hour or so, there are no leaks.
I would say the number one cause for A/C leaks are the compressor shaft seals. Number two cause would be the the evaporator coil, next would be the fill valve cores.
And the major reason evaporator cores leak is because owners think they can add freon without the proper service tools, and get air into the system. They think they are successful, but then in two years the evaporator requires replacement(expensive too), maybe other parts as well.
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES when working with A/C systems!
