Default Extended warranty, which one?

Looking at 2001 430 w/ 39,000 miles. The price is good at $23k and one month left on warranty, but tires are shot and i think it needs new brakes ($1000 in total i suppose).

anyway, how much will an extended warranty cost and which one should i consider? with one month of manu warranty, i suppose i could extend existing warranty.

pls advise

I don’t know which warranty to get (unless it’s Star Marked 6/100 from Mercedes!), but tires and brake are not going to be covered anyway – it is maintenance.

1) What are the odds that your vehicle will suffer problems, what kind (track record, TSBs, recalls, etc), and what the repair cost might be within the warranty period?

2) Are you going to keep the car that long and willing to pay this amount for the ext warranty right off the bat (even if the problems don't arise)?

3) Why not just set aside the $$ into it's own little escrow account and if the fixings aren't needed, or not as much as ext warranty price, you get a refund! (not possible w/warranty)

4) Read the terms and coverage of the warranty CLOSELY !! Especially....what ISN'T covered. Still a good bet that you'll be needing the COVERED portions within the next several yrs?

Shop around re the warranty..several companies offer them at decent prices...Do NOT buy the Extended warranty from Mercedes...Starmark warranty is LIMITED on repairs...read the fine print...As One should read the coverage on any warranty policy

If You do buy the W210...there are several weak points...Crank pullies..Motor mounts..cat converters..mass air sensors..front lower control arms..TRANSMISSIONS...window regulators.. Oh and RUSt...Watch out for rust..doors..trunk..front spring perches..

I spend over $2K for my wife's ML extended warranty and now, when factory warranty is over and i have few of minor issues >>>> nothing is covered.
If you want to spend your money, read the fine print with a lawyer.
I would rather spend the money for good inspection with reliable mechanic.
