Hi,
I have a 2010mod E500(E550) with an exhaust leakage in the exhaust pipe on the right side,
roughly in the middle of the car.
The leak is in the gasket. It has disintegrated.
Can anyone give me tips on how to change the gasket?
Is it just to loosen the clamp, or does the exhaust pipe have to be taken down,
or is it sufficient to remove the crossbar behind the mufflers?
I'm no handyman, but I think I could do it myself without destroying too much.
Attached are pictures of the parts I have purchased,
and of the exhaust pipe
Basically yes, however, getting that old pipe apart will not be fun. It appears that you have a lot of corrosion on the parts so they might not separate easily.
Get the clamp completely off and use lots of penetrating fluid and see if it comes apart. If not, new parts.
no, it hasn't been any fun so far.
That the exhaust pipes are rusty is an understatement.
Yes, it looks like new parts will be the solution to the problem.
I have also changed the brake pipes. They were full of rust, and some had a crack. Now I have copper brake pipes
