Evaporator replace

RE: Evaporator replace
You've got a major problem. The entire dash has to be removed to get to the evaporator. I've heard anywhere from 2,800 to 4,500 bucks for the job. That's the bad news. The good news is that you only have to do it once. MBCCA has some info on the job. Try there and do a search. Not a job I want to tackle but sooner or later I'll have to. I have 2 1995 E300 Diesels.

RE: Evaporator replace
HEY OLD BENZ....ARE YOU SURE, 100% THAT YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR? COULD BE THE EVAP. SENSOR? MAYBE SOMETHING ELSE. CHECK THE DTC CODES IN THE CLIMATE CONTROL BEFORE TACKLING THE BIG EXPENSIVE JOB OF REPLACING THE EVAPORATOR. ALSO, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE PRECAUSTIONS ON NOT CRACKING THE WINDSHILD. IT SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK.

Hi,
I would be interested in your pdf on the Evaporator replacement if still available. I do have theat funny smell after only two days of a recharge. Then no A/C.. Would stop leak really work on this ? I am told by everyone that this can do more harm than good.
Would appreciate your help alot.
