Default Engine misfiring

I bought a 1996 e320 about 6 mo. ago. Was running ok but some days ago the engine started misfiring and then the Check engine light came on. The misfiring stopped, but the light is still on indicating "engine electronics".
Should i just ignore it? or????
help needed
Thanks

It's hard to tell without knowing what PO code you have locked into the computer. First step is to find out what the computer is telling you. Then we can go from there. There are a couple of things though that could cause this and none of them are good. Throttle actuator wiring harness and engine wiring harness come to mind as possible causes. But let's not get ahead of ourselves until we see what code(s) you have.

Thanks Dale for your help. I'll have it checked at the AutoZone and get back to you with the info.
