engine misfiring, engine warning light on
A couple of days ago whilst driving along my car seemed to lose power, the engine warning light came on and the engine seemed to be misfiring, causing the whole car to rock and bounce around as the engine was nearly cutting out and then back in again. Every time i stopped (say at a red light) it felt like the car was going to cut out, it never did, and it was idleing lower then usual.
After limping home at around 20mph the brakepad warning light came on (it all comes at once!) but my biggest worry was the fact that the engine seemed to be struggling and the whole car was bouncing up and down and rocking!!
When pulling up at home, i turned off the ignition and after a few seconds restarted the engine, the car seemed to be better but the engine warning light was still on. I rang Mercedes Stockport and they said that the car may have just recognised that there was a fault and cleared it itself. I am booked in for a diagnostic but was warned that they may never find out what was wrong.
My car (C180K Coupe Sport) seems to be ok although im not taking it very far until after the diganostic, any ideas what this could have been, my dad suggested a block in fuel line, or that a pipe had popped off, but the fact that the cars seems to run ok now is very strange.

also the reason your car was riding rough and having trouble on the way home... mercedes has a 'limp home' transmission setting. it only lets you run up to second gear- assuming you have an automatic
