Question E320 Intrument Panel

1996 E320 with ABS and ASR lights on periodically. When this happens I also have the speedometer drop to 0 and the trip odometer and the total miles odometer fail to increase. Appears to be an electronic issue as car drives ok though the ABS and ASR may be disabled. Anyone with any ideas?

If the odometer is not working, you should find out where the vehicle speed sensor is. I believe that it will be around the output of your transmission, counting out revolutions of driveshaft and figuring out your speed and miles/kilometers. Maybe just a bad connection if it's loosing signal only ones in the while. This is just my best guess and first think that I would be looking for.

It turned out to be a relay that is under the hood within a package next to the rear left firewall side looking from front of car. The relay itself has six relays within it. Once replaced (~ $132.00) everything started to work again.
