e320 fuel cuts
Hi all when I raise the rpm in park the fuel seems to cut at 4200rpm and restarts by itself as the rpm goes down.
the red line being 6000 rpm I think it is a bit to soon. Also the check engine light comes on. Is there a analyser on the market for that car . poor gas mileage complain and sulfuric smell of exhaust????????

RE: e320 fuel cuts
Why are you revving your car to the limiter in park??? That's a quick way to destroy an engine.
The tach may be lagging behind the actual rpm. Probably just a crummy quality tach. The engine must be hitting the rev limiter per the ECU.
The sulfuric stink is caused by chemical build up in the catalytic converters when driving normally. When you accelerate moderately hard, there is a chemical reaction that burns the build up off causing the stink. Change to a different brand of gas.

You are not suppose to be able to hit the redline when its in the Park position.
Most cars won't have engines rev to the redline when its in Drive, with your left foot on the the brake (step all the way down, like how automatic cars are tested).
These are done by the manufacturers to prevent engine damage

RE: e320 fuel cuts
With the trans in drive and your foot on the gas pedal, the RPM are limited by the factory torque converter. But, you can replace it with a high-rpm-stall torque converter that approaches the rev limiter.
The Check Engine Light is coming on because the car hates you. Quit revving it up in park.

RE: e320 fuel cuts
Please .. don't rev the thing so high in Park .. the car is elctronically limiting itself so you won't destroy it ... as far as I know the electronic limiter (cuts out the fire to the coils) hits at the redline or right above .. like the expert said earlier .. the tach is probably just lagging a bit. Stop this and don't do it anymore. c
