Default E320 Engine Wiring Harness Problem

I understand that 1994-95 E320's had and have an engine wiring harness problem due to deteriorating insulation. Mercedes was apparently trying to develop insulation material that would bio degrade, but it failed in use. Does anyone know if the problem was corrected at anytime during the manufacturing of the 1995's or all suspect to have this problem. How or who could be contacted at Mercedes? I'm still looking for a Cabriolet, but am cautious about this electrical issue. Thank you in advance for your input.

I can answer part of your question.

I believe MB did this for 3 years, my 1993 320CE definitely has this problem.

That said I took it to an auto electrician and he rewired most of the dud loom for £150, that was 6 years ago and no problem since.

I would not let it put you off buying what is a great car.
