Default E320 CDI

I am kind of an invironmental buff and I am concerned about the emissions of petroleum diesel. I heard that by 2007 the emission requirement values will be very low and restrictive. I am planning to buy a 2006 E320 CDI and intend to use biodiesel. Would this affect my warranties and can I get any written assurance in this regards? Could somebody point or lead me to who I needed to coordinate with.
I have been using biodiesel for my 86 300SD and 81 240D and I am happy with the results or effects on these cars.
I just acquired a 2005 C240 and I am thinking of using ethanol blend but it is indicated in the fuel door that I should use premium fuel only. Will this also affect my warranties?
Thank you and best regards,

Default RE: E320 CDI

I purchased a 1998 E300 with the intention of using Biodiesel. I contacted MB USA and found out that I could not use BD fuel because it would ruin the fuel injector pump. [IMG]

When I had my car in the shop recently, I drove a 2006 E320 CDI and found out that it was made to take straight B100 without any problems. The same dealer was honest when he had no idea about whether it would work in a 1998, so I'm inclined to believe him, but I would contact Mercedes Benze USA and check with them. They would be able to tell you with certainty if it affects the warranty. I beleive you would need to used the certified grade fuel, however, and not something you brew up in your basement. I'm watching the reliability of the 2005/06 CDI and will probably buy one in the next few years if they look to be in good electrical shape after 80,000 miles.

Hope this helps. I'm a Mercedes fanatic but not expert.

Ezra
