Please help:

We have an E320 sedan from 1999. The starter motor fires (you can hear it repeatedly turn) but the engine refuses to turn on. It works about 20 percent of the time, so the car is basically undrivable.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Check the fuse for the fuel pump.You must not be getting fuel.fuse #6 in the fuse box located by the battery under the rear pass seat,check it and get back to us.Any codes?

Fuse seems good. I would also like to emphasize that the car starts sometimes, so it probably is not a fuse problem since the car would not start all the time. I haven't pinpointed why it starts sometimes, but if I were to guess it would be a hot-start problem or the fuel filter is clogged.

Sorry, but I don't have the code reader, where can I get this from? This would perhaps be the first step.

 

Just got a code reader.

Codes are as follows:

P0300
PO170
PO304
PO301
PO173

We have had the check engine light on for a while, but as the car is out of service and was running perfectly we neglected to do anythign about it. Please let us know what the problem is.

* By the way, the car starts now. It is 7 PM and quite cool here so I am thinking it to be a hot-start problem.
