Default e240 electrical problems

Hi all, tried to get into 1997 E240 with the fob, rear courtesy light came on, not the front one and doors did not open. Got in with the key and started engine; all o.k. But then I realised that windows, sunroof, on dash door locks, head rest drop, indicators and boot release do not work. FOB battery is fine but anything controlled by the FOB which is also on the console, including the indicators, does not work. The hazard lights work fine. I have checked all the fuses I could find ( two fuse boxes in engine bay, one fuse area in dash next to light switch and fuses next to battery ) and all are good.
Today (Fri 3 Feb) I also noticed the horn does not work nor do the electric mirrors - basically everything that is controlled on the centre console plus a few more.
Thanks for the help
