Default E service coming due?

I called the 3 benz dealers within my area and have been quoted 425-550 for this service and was told it takes 3-4 hours once they get their hands on the car? Are there any other people who can do this service and reset the FSS ligth and etc??? Help I am a newbie to all of this E500 with 48,000 miles 2005 model and never one single problem but never remmeber a service costing this much EVER! thanks for the input

Do it yourself or if you need info on how we can help, not into the diy thing?you can find a good indie shop that will do it for far less then the dealer.Like I said if you want to learn how help is here and over on mbworld.org or benzworld.org forums.

"GOT CODES?"
and yes it gets pricey with the dealer charging $15 a plug for plugs you can buy for 3bucks.
Follow my adage"run don't walk from the dealer shop"You can reset the fss yourself very easy to do.
Also besides a very casual glance they do of belts ,fluids, etc.all they do is top off fluids ,change oil and filters, air filter and check air in tires. All things you can do with some basic tools.Check your manual,I think plugs are a 100k mile item same as the w210 model at 50k miles you dont need them and very little except the above need be done.
