E Class Speed

RE: E Class Speed
My 96 E320 is electronically limited to 134MPH. I found this out on a long straight road in south Texas. The motor is capable of pushing it to around 146MPH but because ofUS tire regulations for new automobiles and maybe insurance issues mercedes limits the top speed. If the car went faster than 135 it wouldneedhigher speed rated tires which are more expensive.

I went 95Mph and it felt like I was riding on a cloud. I cant get ove how great Mercedes ride at a higher speed. I also went 100mph in my 2000 C280 Sport and it was the same thing. It was like riding on a cloud.

Had a 1990 300E - Couldn't get more than 136 out of it. Things move real fast at that speed.
Currently have a 1998 E320 - Don' think that I have ever pushed it past 125 due to crappy tires. Now that I have Michelins back on the sled I may have to test the limiter. Tough to speed in this area though... cops remind me of Boss Hog.
Drive safe and have fun.[8D]

I recently purchased a 1995 E320 cabriolet, and on the N.J. turnpike couldn't resist winding it up to speed. At 120 mph the car hadn't even hit 4th gear. WOW. It felt absolutely solid, safe, and free of any vibration. It just wanted to go!
There is simply no other car I'd want to be in.
