I have a '97 E420 and had a Clifford alarm installed with remote start. Everything works great with one exception. When I remote start the car, the doors unlock. The alarm is still armed so it will be tripped if someone was to open the door, but this won't stop someone from grabbing something out of the car and running. There has to be a way to fix this issue. The alarm installer is not the best out there (I had to go in and fix some of his mistakes myself) and says that it is an issue with the factory alarm, and I have to talk to the dealer. The dealer won't touch anything that has an aftermarket alarm in it. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

 

I would say the doors unlock upon remote start to disable the factory alarm, the installer would have to set the lock after start option in programming. Thats where I would start
