Hi sleepwalker and every other exp. MB guy

So I did clean the battery terminals last week... The terminals were clean though the connecting wires were a bit rusty... so i cleaned
.. and it worked fine for 3-4 days.. but then again ..it started having problems
Again..the backlights wont come up..only the mileage comes up (which also keeps flickering at times).... the car cranks but wont start until the dash lights come up nicely and fully....
Otherwise..the car is fine once it starts.....But there is no problem with interior lights or headlights which shows battery is fine...
Anything that I can check...

Just check the battery life just incase, take it pep boys and have them test it, its free anyways. it also might be faulty electrical wiring.

I've put a lot of ignition switches in '96 and '97 210's for this complaint.

it seems like there's no enough cranking amperes to the starter?

the cluster will go dim whenever you crank only or even with just ignition "on".

if you turn on the headlights and crank it, the headlights go dim also?

No, the headlights dont go dim when I start it or crank it..
But today,, the car turned off on its own while I was driving on the highway... Luckily no one else was around and I was safe...
again restarted and came home...
I think it might be a problem with ignition switch... how do i check it and rectify this...can i buy ignition switch from somewhere and change it on my own??
any suggestions and advice is welcome
thanx
