Default DID I PAY TO MUCH FOR MY MY NEW 94 E320?!?! PLEASE HELP

Hi how are you all doing

im new to forum and I enjoy working on cars. Yesterday out of no where my dad brings home a Black 1994 Benz E320 , its got 70,000 miles, condition is EXCELLENT, moonroof, v6 engine, 6 cd changer, CLEAN and shiny black paint, etc...

My question is, my dad thinks he got a really good deal cause of the low mileage and im not too sure, i think it was an alright deal.

we bought it for 7500 , and after all paperwork and DMV charges, it came to about 8000. Is this a good deal? an okay deal?

thanks alot

PS: the car was kept in VERY good conditon from previous owner.

on www.edmunds.com for a car of that quality its worth about 7000-7200, however if it is indeed like you described and it will last you quite some time if the owner did take care of it that well. mine is still running strong at 145k..though i did have to replace some components. Just maintain it well and it will last 10-15 years. Good luck.

you cant trust thoese blue book that much... your price is about right, it all depends on how stunning the car looks, but from the sound of it it sounds gr8 so i would just try to not worry about it and enjoy your new baby.

Ask yourself if you think you could get a nicer car for the money? My guess is no! Enjoy!!!

Really your best source of information about this is looking at what the local papers are selling similar cars for.
"A good deal" varies place to place and car - to - car.

I bought an immaculate '92 400E in March for $6000 at an auction.
(radio didn't work, and a few bulbs, but otherwise pristine).
Auctions are funny. If you are top bidder, that just means that nobody else there thinks it is worth that much.

However that car (I'm betting same one) was in the local paper previous week at $9900. He didn't sell it.
Two weeks later there was another one asking $16000. He was dreaming. An independant Mercedes mechanic that I had examine the car said it was probably worth $12000 -- but he might have been trying to reassure me.

However, like another poster puts it -- Can I have bought a nicer car anywhere for $6000?
I say no. I got a good deal

BTW, this is the nicest car (and only V-8) I've ever owned. I love it.

Now for the radio...

Sigh

I bought 1995 E320 about the smae price. It was one owner Black just like yours. My milage is much higher that yours 134K. It comes with 2 yrs warranty(still have 1 more yr left) Radio didnt work so I have to upgrade that. There was some mechanical problems like vibration at 40 mph and up. I end up replacing 2 flex Disc and drive shft bushing. Fan belt pulley and serpintine belt. Those are expensive repair. I had to pay my co pay of about 10% after my copay my warranty was covered in full. I think you got yourslef a deal. Black is hard color to keep clean but if you willing to keep it cleans it gets lots of attention

If the miles are true, it's all good. '94-95 were great years for this car but it does not have a V6, it has an inline (straight) 6.

My 87 300E was great as well, I sold it at 155K in '97 for $6500 and it was running as new, an outstanding car. Those were the days when you changed the tranny fluid every 30K and I chose to do the differential fluid every 60K. Mine needed ball joints, 1 wheel bearing, 1 water pump, 1 alternator, 1 muffler, 1 relay, 1 window switch and that was it, all the rest was fluids, filters, tires and brakes (never needed rotors!).
