Code Reader or Auto Scanner

RE: Code Reader or Auto Scanner
Hi,
There are many different types and at very different costs.
Important thing is what you need the scanner to do.
Start with:
Protocol (eg OBDII)
Connection (plug) type.
Handheld / PC / self contained.
Read out type, e/g/ Live data on software type gauges.
Budget.
You don't only want to read codes but also reset the ECU and in particular if you want to do diagnostic work live data feeds to the ECU. e.g. Water, ambient temp, O2 sensor output etc etc.
Hope this helps.
I personally use software on a Palm handheld. Extremely good, robust, reliable and CONVENIENT. Since I understand we are not supposed to advertise on this site if you really want to know the make you had better PM me. (about 200USD)
