Default Clock and radio not remembering settings

Car: 2003 E500
Problem: Set clock to local time - adjust treble and bass settings - BUT, once the car is shut off and restarted, settings reset to default (time, audio, etc.) each time.

Any ideas?? This is VERY frustrating...

Thanks,

Dave

Hi,
The radio has lost / is losing its permanent memory.

Don't know how the memory in the radio is powered. I don't think there is a battery as is the case with PC's.

Maybe there is an "always on" special supply to the head unit. Unfortunately I don't have a fix for you however I'm interested in what might have provoked this problem.

you checked the fuses just in case?

Did you replace or disconnect the main battery, jump start the car, change radios, etc? or did it just randonly happen one day?

Stuart

Actually I just bought the car. It has 10,000 miles on it and is still under warranty; so, it should be covered. But, I'm curious as to what is causing it.

Thanks,

Dave

I am curious also my first thought it might be a small batt like ina computer since most of the car runs on computers.
Plz keep us informed on what the problem turns out to be.

Thanks

could be some wiring route problem.

check the fuse of any of those and see if it got power with key off.
