What is the correct way to remove the center console for a 99 E320 Sedan 3.2L? I subscribe to Alldata.com but their instructions are incorrect.

do you mean where the shifter and armrest are?? 2 screws in armrest bottom pull up carpet pad, pull up wood around shifter you will see 2 screws below shifter. remove ashtray 2 more smaller screws under there.

 

Yes, console for shifter. I found the 2 phillips under the carpet in storage box. I pried up the black trim plate around the shifter but the wood grain trim is solidly mounted & can't find a way to remove it. Also, I removed the ash tray & there are no screws.

 

oNCE YOU REMOVE THE TRIM AROUND THE SHIFTER GRAB THE WOOD AT THE TOP, ABOVE THE SHIFTER AND PULL UP KIND OF HARD IT WILL COME UP. THEN YOU WILL SEE LITTLE PLASTIC TABS AND THOSE LITTLE SCREWS YOU PRY BACK THE LITTLE TABS WITH A POCKET SCREW DRIVER AND THEN LIFT OUT THE ASTRAY ASSEMBLY THEN YOU CAN DISSCONNECT THE ASHTRAY SOCKET. THOSE LITTLE SCREWS HOLD DOWN THE FRONT OF THE CONSOLE AT THE ASHTRAY.
