RE: A/C kept running-2001 E240
Is it possible its just the Regulator as 2 persons had post me? Coz I had plug the cable back to the Blower & it kept blowing cold air, even starting the engine & adjusting the termostat to HOT but still blowing air (not hot).
Any chance its not the control unit? Also where can I locate the AC Fuse? Some say it could be a short wire??

you r a/c unit is tempmatic and not automatic. you cannot do the function check from it.
yes, the blower regulator is one possible cause of your problem, that's why i want you to check the part and batch number first.

Sleepwalker,
I have dismantle the Blower Assembly including the Regulator. The Part Number is 210 820 62 10 BEHR 63337 17/07/02.
I dont seem to see the Q33?

okay, this is what you would do.
remove the a/c control unit and check for the part number first.
part number A210 830 85 85 and later means it's modified version and no known problem as what you got.
if in doubt, post here and i'll check.
then... look for the batch. as of Q33, it means that it is new and modified version also. lower than Q33 means it is faulty which it cannot be switched off even if the ignition key was removed... and it also discharges the battery.
don't just replace it with a new one without confirming first.

RE: A/C kept running-2001 E240
Sleepwalker,
There are voltage drop/resistance specs for the regulator in the repair manual that can be tested with a multimeter.
I have tested the 3 pins. Placing the Multimeter 1st & 3rd pin result in 12V reading. Then putting red lead to the middle pin, it reads 12V even if the switch is turned from 1 to 5. However turning the car engine, with the switch at 0 position gets 15V reading but increasing the dial swicth to 5 instead reads 7V.
Does that mean the Regulator is not at fault?
Also the control unit, you are talking about, is that the swicth dial (coz mine do not have Climate Control.
