Default A/C & Heater problems

Hello. This is my first post; this site is really a great resource!! My '97 E320 has 89,000 miles. Air blows out of vents, but it acts like a fan - no cold air or heated air when temp settings are adjusted. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for replying, Vytamenc. No, the ec light (I'm assuming you are refering to the economy light) is not on. If you are refering to the check engine light, it does come on every time I start the car. I am able to turn that off.

sounds like a controller problem. ductwork should not be an issue, because even though the heat portion can be sealed off, air usually always runs over the ac portion, even when the ac is not running. have your hvac controller checked out first to make sure it is sending the appropriate signals out to all the components in relationship to in car air temperature.

Thank you for the info, cmscott16. I'll have the hvac controller checked out.
