I, as I have mentioned, Live in the UK and this question was asked on behalf of my parents mercs. Strangely I just found this article in todays daily newspaper, I have copied it word for word below. Cheers. Peter
PS. I have some personal notations for my father in brackets as I emailed this to him as well.
Mercedes Benz is reacalling 35,000 cars in the UK because of a brake problem
A small number of faults has developed in some vechicles fitted with the advanced computer controlled SBC (sensomatic brake control) system
In two cases in Germany the problems have led to minor collisions
The company has asked all customers with E-Class saloons (thats a four door in the UK) built from March 2002, E-Class Estates (thats a station wagon in the UK) built from March 2003 (NOTE: your car should have a sticker in the door jamb that says when the car was built) and SL class roadsters built from October 2001 to take their cars in for a free check
A Mercedes spokemsan said: "this has affected some vehicles with high mileage and where frequent braking is required"
"If the system fails the car switches to an emergency back up braking system. No-one has been hurt in any incedent"
