Check the globes and fuse first. Clean the connection for the rear brake lights, and make sure its properly sealed. Also check for any cuts in the wiring, thats all I can think of as the problem.

what car and year...but usually the problem is the brake light switch that goes bad...or could just be bad bulbs. if its an E class from 96 up to 2002 could need tail light assemblys

Where do I find DIY instructions for replacing the assembly? Where do you suggest I order the part from? DO you think I should try replacing the bulb holders and bulbs before tackling the assembly? My brake light on the passenger side don't all work one of the bulbs work in the brakelight and one doesn't. The corresponding front lower light on the right side doesn't work either. So, do you think it s the tailight assembly thats cauing the problem?
