Brake Bulbs keep blowing

Brake Bulbs keep blowing
I have an 2002 E430 and every few months I blow a brake bulb. I even went as far as changing my rear taillights and the problem continued. At $8 apiece its starting to get expensive. I read in a blog awhile back that this is a common issue with W210 is this the case? Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

RE: Brake Bulbs keep blowing
Sure the bulb has blown?
MB rear light have a problem with the contact between the bulb holder and the galvanised circuit on the cluster.
This is due to the mouldings "melting" due to excess heat.
Wasn't aware this was a w210 problem but MB designs are used across the board.
In USA there is a recall on at least R170 for this problem.
Suggest that the NEW bulb gives the impression it was the bulb when in fact it was the contact.
Check the displaced bulb(s) with a continuity tester / multimeter to determine if the bilb has really blown..
If indeed the bulbs have blown I would like to know.
