Default Brake Bleeding Overview on 93 190E - Power Bleeders?

Hi all,

Next on the list is bleeding the brakes on my recently acquired 93 190E.

I'm thinking of getting the Motive Products Black Label Power Bleeder Amazon.com: Motive Products Power Bleeder - European- Black Label: Automotive. I wonder if anyone's used this on a 190E comparable to my own. I do have ABS.

Second question: Do all four corners need to be on jack stands when bleeding brakes, or can you jack up just the back, then the front? I imagine having the entire vehicle up would be best, so it'd be level, and the process would be uninterupted.

Finally, should I get brake fluid from an MB dealer, or go with an alternative?

Thanks for any insights.

That unit should work just fine. Power bleeders work great for me. In fact if you feel like it you can build that exact same unit using a garden sprayer and some fittings for cheap, just do a search for homemade pressure bleeder.

It doesn't have to be on jack stands to work. Just make sure you start with the furthest away from the master cylinder. So, rr, lr, rf, and lf. You can just jack up the back and then the front if that works best for you, not a problem. Or do one at a time.

For brake fluid any brand of DOT 4 will do. Prestone and Valvoline both make good synthetic DOT4 fluids.
