Default Which Bluetooth Dongle for '08 E350

New to the forums, picking up a CPO '08 E350 tomorrow. Happy to be getting my hands on a car I've wanted for a while.

The car has the MHI but no BT dongle. The dealer of course wants $495. The salesman said the MB part number for it is 67876131. I'm looking on Ebay to save a few bucks, I see the one he mentions, it's black-- but I am also seeing silver ones with part numbers 67875839 and 67875878 which claim to be compatible with the 2008 E class also but they seem to be cheaper.

Anyone know for sure whether the "silver" ones work, and what the differences are or which one(s) are truly compatible?

I have an 2008 E350 and bought the silver one on ebay...works great!...half the cost of the newer model "black" ones too. The dealer actually advised me to buy it on ebay...These are MBZ units...just "like new". I was actually a bit surprised that a high end, "blue tooth" ready car like Mercedes needed an extra gizmo just to work...but it is what it is....ever try to change the clock?...that is also an adventure....o yeah...model: #B67875878...works great!

I also purchased that module. Got it today and plugged it in and cannot do anything. What am I missing? Also, I tried to remove it and it seems very difficult. Any help in getting started?

Thanks

Did you hold the little mercedes symbol down until it lights up?...there is also an activation code on the back you enter once it connects...that should be about it.

Default worked for me

I bought Bluetooth Dongle par#: B6 787 5878 last weekend to put in a 2008 E350 4matic. Worked like a charm, including downloading my full address book from my Blackberry. Paid $120 on ebay.

BE CAREFUL - on mine there is a small black button next to the Star that is the release button- don't break the dang thing. Yes you need the pairing code off the back, you hold down the Star til it starts flashing then pair with your phone. Better yet, go to this site and download the user guide, also in the Audio/Telematics forum over at Benzworld.org there is a sticky that I think covers all this too.

Yeah I made the same comment elsewhere about my surprise that a car in this price range needed a $500 add-on (or even a $150 used one) to have BT when I bought a BT dongle for my laptop for $6. I got scolded for being disrespectful to the brand- but hey I call 'em like I see 'em.

Way back in 2005 my BMW had BT included with the premium package, unlike MB-- my car even has P2 package and not included. I know it is standard now on the 2010's but it seems like MB was lagging behind the competition with including it at a reasonable price or part of an option package IMHO............

Thanks all for the responses. I got it up and running. Works great with the iPhone. I get the address book also. I downloaded the manual and everything went smoothly. Again, thanks to all.
