Major findings about a failing window regulator jaw
Browsing through a junkyard i found many older E-class, with perfectly working rear-window regulator, taking them a part of course to find out why
A jaw itself was gray in color, still one piece !!!!!! (20year-old),not broken !!!but this one had a small reinforcing steel-cage holding a cable in ,placed inward in a plastic jaw.Now that is a major difference from a replacement-jaw that you can buy nowadays on the internet (a green one,and no reinforcing in there either)
Also discovered why this green one can`t be installed without some modification
Browsing on, found a 96`E-320 ,front door window with auxiliary vertical rail with a green-jaw sitting in there, but no cable attached it is for stabilizing a window, not moving it
And that was a purpose of green jaw what THEY SELL on the internet as replacement-part,and that is why we cant take it apart, and can`t find room for a cable-end IT IS A SLIDING GUIDE JAW
And you guys wonder why a replacement green-jaw don`t fit ,it is for a different door. However ther is still a remedyrder a green one,drill-out a rivets(2) old and new both(No#3 center drill), get a reinforcing steel-cage from a junkyard, attache a green plastic with M6-15mm screw-nut to your existing metal base unit

all set
