AIR FILTER

AIR FILTER
Hi everybody! Just bought a 2007 E350, and proud to be part of the Mercedes family now!!
I have a quick question...I am having trouble figuring out how to to install a K&N filter to replace the stock ones. I tried unhooking the metal clip in the back, but the big plastic piece is still not budging?! Also, do I need two filters??
One more question....does anybody know ofany businesses in the SF Bay Area that installs Valentine 1 radar detectors in the rear view mirror??
Thank You!!

RE: AIR FILTER
Do yourself a big favor and use oem filters. They out flow K/N and your engine will gain nothing from them.
someone just did a valentine on mbworld.org post in the audio electronics section and the forum for your model.

RE: AIR FILTER
Interesting comment on the K&N. Worth researching. I pull mine out every year, follow the directions, wash it out properly, dry it and reoil it before putting it back in. It has paid for itself 3X over in the past 3 years. I will investigate this more though...

RE: AIR FILTER
OEM filter autohausaz.com $13 tests have proven 8times more dust and dirt get through the k/n and after the first half hour on lab tests flow less cu ft of air.Changing filter at 11k average fss oil change interval I am $65 into air filters in 55k miles.Clean fresh filters, that flow more air and pass less dirt.As to power increases if mercedes could pick up a few hp using a different air filter they would. The engine is hardly winded at the factory goverened limiter,so obviously it is not for want of more air.

RE: AIR FILTER
I have a E350 and just clean the filters(there are two air filters)To change or clean the air
filters you have to remove the front and main covers in the engine. To remove the front cover, just pull it up, there are two clips in the back and two in the front area. To remove the main cover, push the metal clip in the back to free the cover, then push up the clips in the
back of the cover(there are two in the back) and one in the left front of the cover, close to
an small hose( also to be removed). Then remove the two air intakes in the front and you can
take the cover out. In the cover there are two filters, one on each side, remove the screws
with a torx screw driver and change the filters.
Good luck.
