Default 98 E 320 is stalling out

My 98 E320 has stalled out recently and will only restart after letting it sit for an extended period (overnight). Everything that I am finding online points to the crankshaft position sensor. The fuel filer was recently replaced. Problem is, I don't where the CPS is on the engine. The part description says that it is in the rear of the engine. Can I get to it from above, or will I have to put it up on ramps and work from underneath? Once found is replacing it a fairly simple job? Thanks!!!!!!

By rear of the engine they mean the bell housing, from the top usually. Best remove the air cleaner.
