Hi, I have a '97 MB E420 sedan and I just bought it in Feb. and twice the headlight has gone out. I replaced the bulb once but this time, my mechanic is saying it is an electrical problem, that the power source to it is bad. He called it a control module and showed me it. It sits underneath the headlight assembly. Where can I find this part at a reasonable price. He quoted me in the range of $600-$700 for the part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I take it you have HID bulbs?

Did you buy a known brand bulb? Did you keep your fingers off of the bulb? Never touch an HID bulb - the oil and contaminants on your skin will cause an early failure.

When the light worked, was it bright white? As it failed, did it turn orange, then pink, then went dead, or did it up and die, to shine no more?
