Default 97 E320 oil temp issues

Okay, so I have had my 97 Mercedes E320 with a little over 100k on it for about six months now. I know the previous owner and I know that she takes really good care of her cars (she has had several Mercedes in her time and her husband has a close friend that works on them). So I'm pretty sure it's not an issue of proper maintenance (I'm guessing wear and tear has just murdered something).

Until recently the car was running like a dream but recently I've started to have issues with my oil temp gauge spiking. If I get my engine above 1500 rpm (it doesn't happen as long as my car is running at under 1500 rpm no matter what speed I'm going or gear I'm in - unless I am idling) my oil temp shoots up to 100-110 C. It drops back to 85 C if I get back below 1500 rpm, but only if my heater is set to max. If my heater is off, then it continues to climb right in to the red zone (I haven't let it go all the way, that's just the trend I'm seeing).

I've recently flushed the coolant (which seemed a bit low so I have put down a piece of cardboard under my engine to see if I have any fluids leaking - so far I haven't seen anything) and I've also had an oil change recently (within the last week to see if it would help - it didn't).

I checked for errors and got:
B1234 - Sun sensor
B1235 - Emissions sensor

I'm not sure, but I don't think those errors are going to have much to do with my current issues.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated and if you need any more info, just ask.

Thanks.

Default RE: 97 E320 oil temp issues

That is coolant temp not oil temp. You ran the climate control diagnostics, which have nothing to do with an over heating issue.
M104 have head gasket problems. You need to have the system checked for combustion gases in the coolant. You need to check that your cooling fan is operating properly. You need to check that your thermostat is not failing or stuck. If you don't know how to test all of the above, find an indie MB shop that will check them for you Before you toast the engine.........
