95 E320 Headlight bulb
Hi,
1995 E320 (W1240 -
I need to replace the right headlight bulb. As you must know, it is very tight and getting the cover back on the assembly is quite the chore, as the inner most clip that holds it tight pops off while trying to seat the cover. It really doesn't seem possible to get them both on.
Is it just a matter of patience and persistence? Are there any tricks or methods which will save me hours of aggravation?
Thanks in advance for any tips.

RE: 95 E320 Headlight bulb
Oh boy! I hope this isn't contagious! I've had my '94 W124 for six years, and the bulb hasn't yet expired. Have you considered undoing the plastic fastener at the top of the headlamp assembly to get some extra space to work with? You might be able to tilt the headlampforward. Then, if you need to, there's a bolt on the inner side of the headlamp assembly that's pretty easy to get to. Oh, and the slim painted body panel on the bottom removes easily. One more fastener couples the headlight assembly to the turn signal lamp housing. A simple clip releases the turn signal assembly.Undoing the headlight partially, or fully, might be a comparativepiece of cake, and you'd have access.
Good luck!

Got it
Hello Marko57,
Thanks for your answer and advice. Apologies for the slow response.
I finally was able to attach the clip from inside the engine compartment, but I hope I never have to do it again. A very minor repair, but not without its frustrations. I don't think I could have done it without the assistance of my son's smaller fingers.
I would next have tried your suggestions. But fortunately...
For your peace of mind, thought I would tell you that I've had my W124 for 13 years (bought it new) and this is the first time to change that bulb. They do last.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
Eric
